The Women of St. Andrew's [WSA] is an organization for all the women in the parish. The organization serves the parish and community in a variety of ways. The WSA meets the second Saturday of each month in the Parish Hall with breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. Each meeting includes breakfast, fellowship and a business meeting. We would love to have all the women of St. Andrew's join us at any meeting!
2013 was geared more towards outreach for Elder Care and our sick.
We're very proud of the outreach programs endorsed by the WSA. A sampling of the activities in progress will be shown on this page but include Flowers to the Sick (where we use Sunday's altar flowers in arrangements afterwards and take them to our sick); Elder-Care (in our adopting a local assisted living home); and ongoing Meals to our Sick Parishioners. In 2013 we started the Casserole Crew for one of our beloved parishioners fighting cancer. The women alternated for months taking casseroles and dinners to her house and then sat with her every day for weeks upon weeks in the hospital.
In 2012, and 2013 the Women of St. Andrew's also completed our project with The Samaritan's Purse called Operation Christmas Child where you pack shoeboxes full of gifts for needy children and they ship them internationally. More recently, our shoeboxes were tracked to young boys and girls in Columbia for Christmas 2013. Our priest, Father Powell, sees the love and power in this project, for those who give and for those who receive and consequently has asked the Women of St. Andrew's to open this project up to the entire parish for involvement in 2014, which we will do.
