The Women of St. Andrew's [WSA] is an organization for all the women in the parish. The organization serves the parish and community in a variety of ways. The WSA meets the second Saturday of each month in the Parish Hall with breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. Each meeting includes breakfast, fellowship and a business meeting. We would love to have all the women of St. Andrew's join us at any meeting! Current News: Last year the WSA put an emphasis on building their programs each month to encourage attendance at our meetings and it worked. We had learning programs on Organic Gardening with our husbands encouraged to join us; this class had hands-on supplies brought to the meeting with plants. We had CPR classes with child and adult mannequins to practice on in class. We had cooking programs where our daughters and granddaughters were encouraged to join us, and this was a very popular program. We had local parishioners share their talents. We also had a well known christian author come and speak to us during the holidays and women attended from all over. In fact, we had more programs just in 2012 than the WSA has had in several years combined. 2013 has started off with an equal emphasis on programming for the women. From Teaching Programs to Outreach: We're very proud of the outreach programs endorsed by the WSA. A sampling of the activities in progress will be shown on this page but include Flowers to the Sick (where we use Sunday's altar flowers in arrangements on Monday and take them to our sick); Elder-Care (in our adopting a local assisted living home); and Meals to the Sick Parishioners. In 2012 we also completed our project with The Samaritan's Purse called Operation Christmas Child where you pack shoeboxes full of gifts for needy children and they ship them internationally. The WSA has already allocated funds to do Operation Christmas Child again in 2013. All of these outreach programs are documented on the St. Andrew's Facebook page (as they take place) where it has photos and slide shows. The Women of St. Andrew's are very involved in the community and within their parish where they are currently involved with their outreach programs for 2013. Photos will update as activities take place. |
